Princess Lucaj - We Are Still Here CastPrincess Lucaj

Princess Lucaj (Gwich'in Athabascan) has been involved with the performing arts since childhood. Born just outside of Jerusalem, Israel to a Romanian/Lithuanian father and a Gwich'in Athabascan mother from Alaska, she was bound to express her diverse background on stage and in film.

Princess most recently returned from the Smokey Mountains of N. Carolina where she played a lead role in the feature film Ghost Town. On her return to LA, she jumped right into filming Pow Wow Dreams, a short film she wrote, directed, and acted in produced through the Creative Spirit Script-to-Screen competition (www.nativefilm.com). This fall she played the co-star role of 'Sara' in the CBS/Paramount pilot Jericho starring Skeet Ulrich and directed by Jon Turtletaub.

In addition to her filmmaking endeavors, Princess enjoys working with Native Youth. She has been a mentor and workshop leader through the Native Voices at the Autry, WriteGirl, AFN's Youth & Elder's Conference, Tanana Chief's Conference and Outward Bound.

Drawing on her rich heritage, Princess has also expressed herself through writing and directing. She has been a Sundance Fellow where she had the privilege of working with such greats as Robert Redford, Alfonso Cuaron, and Stewart Stern. In addition, she has also been a PEN Emerging Voices/Rosenthal Fellow where she had the honor of being mentored by writer and filmmaker, Sherman Alexie.
